Core Learning Areas
Social-Emotional Learning & Morning Meeting
Students begin each day with a community-building morning meeting to set goals, reflect on emotions, and prepare for learning. Activities promote resilience, positive relationships, and self-regulation through restorative practices and moments of genuine connection.
Literacy & Communication
Through read-alouds, journaling, small-group reading, and writing workshops, students develop fluency, comprehension, and expressive skills. Learners explore multiple genres and present their work to peers and families through showcases.
Math for Mastery
Students progress through a personalized, mastery-based math program that blends real-world problems, math talks, games, and tech tools. Peer collaboration and hands-on practice help build number sense, critical thinking, and confidence.
Science & Nature Inquiry
Using the 5E model (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate), students explore science concepts through experiments, outdoor investigations, and cross-disciplinary projects. Curiosity is sparked through questions, exploration, and reflection.
History, Civics, and Social Studies
Learners examine the past and present through thematic units that connect to their community and the wider world. Activities include map-making, storytelling, and project-based learning focused on historical inquiry and civic engagement.
Digital Literacy & Life Skills
Students gain confidence navigating the digital world by engaging in age-appropriate research, keyboarding, project planning, and safe online behavior. Tools such as calendars, Google tools, and beginner-friendly AI platforms are introduced.
Art, Movement, and Exploration
Daily time is devoted to creativity, physical activity, and open-ended exploration. Students engage in visual arts, maker time, drama, and movement games to support cognitive, emotional, and physical development.
